What is USG?

The Undergraduate Student Government of Michigan Technological University is a collection of your peers that represent you when making decisions about different aspects of student life.

We provide funding to RSO's (Student Organizations), run the Holiday Break Bus, provide access to campus activities via the Experience Tech fee, meet with administration to discuss student concerns, and otherwise find ways to improve how we represent you, the undergraduates!

We are made up of administrative advisors, a president, vice president,  treasurer, secretary, college representatives, year representatives, at-large representatives, and associate members. We also meet with the Dean of Students frequently!

Where Can I Contact USG?

You may contact us by emailing usg@mtu.edu, emailing a representative or member you'd like to contact, sending a chat on this website, visiting us during our office hours (8-5, M-F, MUB 113), or attending our weekly meetings at 7 PM on Wednesdays. These meetings usually happen in MUB 107, but may be moved to the lower level or moved to virtual in some cases. You are allowed (and encouraged) to speak during open floor at the end of our meetings!

What Does a USG Member Do?

It depends on the position we have been elected into, but the basic expectation as a USG member is to have 3 office hours a week, be a member of a committee, and attend weekly meetings with the body.
